We are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated PhD student to join our research group at the Division of Molecular Pathobiology, DCR?VPH, Vetsuisse Faculty, University of Bern. The position is available from March 2012 onwards.
The project will focus on morbillivirus?mediated persistent infection in glial cells, a phenotype of infection that leads to dramatic brain disorders. The aim of this project is to understand how the matrix protein of canine distemper virus (CDV), the model Morbillivirus used in our lab, can regulate limited fusion activity by interacting with i) viral glycoproteins and ii) cellular proteins. The position requires a master degree in Life Science or related disciplines. Candidates with experiences in molecular biology, biochemistry and virology will be preferred.
