PhD and Postdoc Positions : Biosystems Science and Engineering

The Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE, www.bsse.ethz.ch) of the ETH Zurich in Basel and the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique at the Ecole supérieure de biotechnologie Strasbourg (ESBS, www-esbs.u-strasbg.fr) have entered into a close collaboration and team up to tackle pertinent challenges in the treatment of human metabolic disorders. We offer

PhD and Postdoc Positions

 The projects are focused on the design and in-vivo validation of prosthetic gene networks using synthetic biology principles. The workspace will be located at the ESBS with frequent experimental activities at the ETH Zurich in Basel. PhD students will be part of the international PhD program of the University of Strassbourg and will be enlisted at the ETH Zurich.

Successful candidates are highly skilled in standard molecular, cell biology and in vivo techniques, have a command of state-of-the-art transduction technologies and have advanced skills in cultivating primary cells. The handling of stem cells and confidence in animal experimentation will be a plus (postdocs only).

 

We expect an outstanding publication record (postdocs only) and ambition to pursue an academic career or initiate technology transfer activities.
