Open Position : Modelling plasmonic nanostructures in complex surroundings

Modelling plasmonic nanostructures in complex surroundings

(PhD student, 3 years)

Over the years, the NAM has developped several sophisticated computational techniques for light scattering in complex structures. The objective of this project is to combine the surface integral technique (publication) with stratified backgrounds (publication). This will result in a very powerfull technique for the simulation of a broad variety of nanostructures, including plasmonic structure interacting with films and other types of backgrounds. In addition to developping new numerical techniques, all the modelling work performed at the NAM is conducted in close collaboration with scientists conducting experiments.

Requirements: completed studies in physics, mathematics, or electrical engineering. Good analytical skills and taste for modelling and computer programming. Ability to interact with experimentalists.
